Very light, but seems higher quality than it has any right to be.
I haven't taken this out fishing yet - just received it. But I thought I'd leave some notes here for anybody out there that might be on the fence.This is 9 sections, the lower 8 are definitely carbon fiber. The tip section is fiberglass. The caps are plastic, the butt cap threaded, and the threading inside the end of the bottom tube is very well done. the carbon fiber at this end is about double the thickness of the opposite end of this section of the tube - I don't expect it to crack from normal use.Fully collapsed, it's 15-3/8" long. Fully extended, it's just about as advertised: 8' 7". Mine is marked "Made in Japan", though it shipped from China, so who knows.It weighs 2.2oz on my scale, so it's extremely light.Overall, being carbon fiber with a fiberglass tip section, I expect it to perform very well. Surprisingly high quality for a four dollar pole.

There is no tip on the rod. Not as shown in the picture. unusable.

A poor man's tenkara, which is awesome
How can you say no for $4. It probably won't last forever, but at that price it doesn't matter. Very supple, low action. Easy to use and lightweight. Went for a hike the next day and just threw some regular floating fly line and 4' of 6x tippet for a quick fish in an alpine lake and caught a nice little rainbow in 5 minutes. I've now got a little fly setup for hiking!Excellent product for such a low price.

Carbon, not plastic
Ludicrously inexpensive tenkara. Painted graphite/cf with what I think is fiberglass for the tip. The largest tube appears to be damaged slightly or improperly manufactured: the second tube slides further out than it should Ave I get the impression I could easily separate them. This doesn't affect performance as far as I can tell.

Did not come with Lillian string.
Missing Lillian string, got refund , keep the rod. Spent $3.99 ordered a piece of Lillian string. if the rod with no missing tip string should be a decent rod for $4.00 .

Amazing bargain
What a bargain. This is a tenkara rod minus the cork handle. Wrap bicycle tape around it if you need a handle. Tenkara rods can cost $100 while this rod cost me $4. I'm just learning, so there's no barrier to trying this new sport.

Great rod for starting out casts great! I landed this guy on my first trip so don't worry about the strength.Without this rod I would never have given tenkara (or fly fishing for that matter) a fair shake because the price for most gear is just outrageous. Because of this I now Enjoy a new type of fishing that is truly special.

Broken Already
I've had it for 2 hours, extended it only 4 times and already it's broken. Didn't even get to use it.
