Jam-o-matic, plastic magazine slide is weak point
I had high hopes for this stapler but it has been a failure from the get-go. It jammed every 5 or so staples (Tacwise branded staples) then finally just quit working. On investigation the plastic magazine slide has split. Went to big box store and bought old school Arrow T50 heavy duty for $10 less than the Tacwise.Only positive note was that it was easy for my small-handed girlfriend to wield and fire, and she struggles a bit with the clunky Arrow T50.

Didn’t work out of package
Brand new, didn’t work. I left the stapler in it’s original packaging, unopened and untested prior to needing to use it. Finally, I opened it to use and the staples never left the cartridge. Too late to return. If anyone has any ideas let me know. We tried everything, nothing worked, so it just sits on my bench looking “good”...

... the tacwise staple gun because it was so highly recommended. I received it on May 15th
I ordered the tacwise staple gun because it was so highly recommended. I received it on May 15th, but did not use it until Aug. 3rd. Before I had finished my first project it quit, so I assumed that it was out of staples. The staple loader was jammed so I could not add more staples. I can no longer return it and can find no information as to its guarantee.

Perfect for Reupholstering Chairs
Reasons for 5 stars:+ Well Built+ Great spring+ Easy to use+ Ambidextrous locking latchI decided to purchase this to reupholster some chairs because I figured I would save money and gain a staple tacker. Needless to say, this stapler works very well. I found it very easy to use, the amount of force I had to press wasn't all that significant, but those staples drove straight into the chairs without issue. The stapler itself is also extremely well constructed. It's metal and very sturdy. There is a belt clip on the side, which is handy. My favorite part is that the trigger lock is ambidextrous, so you can use the stapler with either hand and have no trouble locking it again. It's also incredibly easy to reload.

Hefty
This tool is large and heavy. 7 1/4 inch x 4 5/8 inch when locked, 1 3/16 inch thick. Weighs 2 lb. Hence 4 stars. It easily drives 5/16 staples fully into red oak (even on the lower power setting). The grey part is metal, the orange part is plastic. The handle needs to be in the pressed position in order to lock the tool, but you do not have to shoot a staple to do that, thanks to an intelligent design. Slightly pulling the handle out frees it from the shooting mechanism so it can be pressed almost effortlessly and without shooting a staple.Tacwise is a UK based company but there is no detail of where the tool is made on the tool or on the packaging. The packaging looks like a blister, but it is actually a clamshell held closed by two easily removable staples.Loading is simple (with tool upside down, slide magazine out, position staples in channel, return magazine to place). There is a window that allows you to see the ~12 staples closest to the nose, so you know when you have less than ~12 staples left. It could be nice if the window was a bit larger, to allow earlier warning. The tool comes with about 200 3/16 staples, so you can try it even without purchasing staples. The 140 series of staples are about 13/32" wide. This is not a Vine review.Update after using for a project: The belt clip is a godsend. One annoying feature is that you must release the handle FULLY before shooting the next staples. Considering the handle's long path, this can pose somewhat of a problem for people that don't have large hands.

easy, like the handle lock
Have not actually used it as yet. Figured out how to load, easy, like the handle lock, light weight and belt hook. Did not like the price of staples nor the package they came in for storage and spilling. Very confusing to get the right size I needed and when the price showed it was way more than expected. Based on that, not sure I would recommend to others. Have not used brads in a stapler before. Will report experience when I actually use them

Not just another generic stapler. Some genuine innovative features.
When so many cheaper staplers exist what drove me to spending a little more on this Tacwise model and what have I liked so far?# Tacwise is a really well known brand.# Tacwise also make the most popular staples ensuring guaranteed compatibility.# It has a manual you can actually read and a product website you can actually visit unlike so many of the cheap clones.# It lists what staples or pins it needs right there on the stapler. I find it mind boggling but you would be amazed when you actually look into it how many staplers don't say what stock they use.# You load the stock from the underneath which is much easier and quicker.# It has a belt clip which is a small feature but when you are crawling around on the floor it really helps.# I don't know how but its both more powerful than the Stanley model I am replacing but also considerably easier to use even at max power setting.# It is lightweight but not cheap feeling i.e. they clearly chose premium materials to make it lighter.# Changing the impact power adjuster lever takes a split second compared to the screw type which is impractical to do on the fly.# I have not used the removable margin edge adjuster yet but it seems so obvious a feature I don't know why no one else has it.Top tip. This model Tacwise 1764 Z4-140 uses heavier stock than the Z5 model which is a lighter weight stapler for upholstery etc. I used this Z4 for carpets which it easily handled. This feels like a professional "tool for a lifetime" and is absolutely worth the little extra it costs.
