Prepared in small batches each kit is hand planted in Fresh Compost and will produce the freshest mushrooms possible. Nothing beats the flavour of freshly picked mushrooms, and it's great fun watching them grow - children love them too! Each kit contains pre-spawned mycelium for brown chestnut mushrooms, and a top layer of casing compost. The mushrooms are already growing. All you need to do is spray daily with a mister to keep the compost moist, and the mushrooms will get bigger. Once picked, more will follow, and each kit has enough for several weeks worth of cropping. Mushrooms will continue to grow if left between 14 and 20 degrees - ideal for your kitchen or utility room. In daylight or darkness but not direct sunlight.

You can never have too many mushrooms, and this kit provided loads!
I was quite dubious that these would grow at all. But I needn't have worried, there was an abundant crop, and when I'd picked those, more came along. Altogether I reckon I had about 6 crops from this kit. And they tasted wonderful! The kit came as a plastic box, already filled with soil and mushroom spores (spores? Is that the right word?) so all I had to do was take it out of its wrapper, water it a bit, and off it went. I don't think it would be suitable to buy in advance, as the mushrooms were already just showing their heads when I got it. So if you're buying it as a present for someone, get it as close to the present giving date as possible.

Excellent value for money
I really like this product for several reasons. It is a useful size and can be put almost anywhere. The container is water-tight, so nothing can leak onto a surface. There is a plastic bag that covers the crop, keeps in the moisture and guards against the deadly mushroom fly. This was a present for someone who wanted to know more about mushrooms. It was well received and made some very interesting moments watching the mushrooms grow. The mushrooms are good to eat, too. Highly recommended.

A little expensive for the size.
A smaller box than we have tried in the past but comes ready set up and mushrooms started growing almost immediately. Still pucking mushrooms so not sure how long it will go on producing. Would buy again.

Good crop
The kit arrived with mushrooms just appearing on the surface which supported the description of being pre-started. We had 3 lots of mushrooms from the kit, it is lovely to be able to pick them fresh. Just one tip, follow the instructions carefully as for each flush you must remove all mushrooms so as to kick start the next flush. Really good value for money, well packaged.

Great gift idea!
Bought this as an addition for my mother’s day hamper (something a little different than flowers) but didn’t expect much from it. My mum has now ended up with more mushrooms than the entire family can possibly consume! So easy to grow, just pop the whole tub into a cupboard and that’s pretty much it. She has to pick them regularly to make room for more but it seems to have spurred them on to grow even more.

not as expected
I don't believe this is value for money. I only had 2 crops off about 8 rooms per crop, which isn't good value in any language. I wont be wasting my money on another tub Fred

Thoroughly recommended. I brought these just before Christmas as a present for my dad and we have had 3 or 4 good crops from it. We are now in February and there is still some growing, excellent present ans tasty to.
