Marx brothers in top form
Watched this American import with my sons (23y. & 19y.) who was as entertained as I had been when my father introduces me to the Marx Brothers "eons" ago in Denmark. My language skills have improved since then, when I had to make do with reading subtitles and therefore didn't pick up all the wonderful banter; -they do not write scripts as good as this any more. It's witty, fast paced and genuinely funny in a way today's comedies sadly do not aspire to match; instead the often go for the crass and smutty route to get laughs. Why this gem of a film is not released in the UK on blu ray is beyond me. The various companies ought to fight each other for the rights to release this, as well as the others, still unreleased Marx Brothers films. I can only highly recommend this blu ray, a real treat; -It's sad though that you have to invest in a multi-region player to enjoy it. But: WORTH IT!

A late Marx Brothers treasure!
What a pleasant surprise this movie is. It is hands down the best of the late Marx Brother’s movies and if they hadn’t run out of money and were able to film the screenplay, it might have been better than Day at the Races. A treasure and a must see for Marxists everywhere.

The Brothers back on Blu Ray
You can’t go wrong with the Marx Brothers, especially on blu ray. Movie was restored nicely, hopefully the remaining movies will come to blu ray, in the future.

Excellent!
To Warner Brothers, Groucho said "we were brothers before you."

If you already have the Warner Video DVD, don't bother with this Blu Ray release
This has been a favorite Marx Brothers film for nearly 50 years, since I first saw it when it aired on the CBS Late Movie showcase in 1973. I bought the film on VHS when it came out, and then the Warner Video DVD in 2004. I noticed this year that it had recently been reissued on Blu Ray and decided to buy it. It was a mistake. The company claims it is "newly restored", but I'd like to know exactly what they did. I don't think this Blu Ray from Classic Flix is either "restored" or a significant improvement over the prior DVD release. Possibly "remastered", but it looks like what they did on this Blu Ray was to boost the contrast to sharpen the image, and the images are now noticeably grainy where they weren't before. And a new problem is that people and objects in some scenes have a faint "hot" whitish cast on them, like an overexposure. Also the volume level is not balanced and I kept having to adjust it up or down. The bonus feature audio clip of Groucho and Chico trying out some of the jokes before a live audience wasn't that interesting, and the sound on that is somewhat muffled. And by the way, it's also annoying to have to sit through a preview for another Blu Ray release from ClassicFlix before being able to watch A Night in Casablanca on this Blu Ray!The 2004 Warner Video DVD release was fine - and is still very good, the image quality not grainy at all, and the sound level is balanced. I don't like this Blu Ray release and am glad I still have my DVD, which I will watch instead. I'm getting tired of buying reissues of favorite films on Blu Ray that are expected to be big improvements in quality but basically are just schemes to get fans to shell out money to buy the same films again. The fact of the matter is, A Night in Casablanca was not filmed in HD, and an attempt to sharpen the film elements still won't make it HD and brings on other problems, the tampering worsens the quality.Buyer beware. In my opinion, this ClassicFlix Blu Ray is not worth purchasing if you've already got the 2004 Warner Video DVD.
