Bridge upgrade
I’m completely satisfied with my purchase of this fine guitar, and I’d like to thank all the people who have reviewed guitars on Amazon and helped me make my decision. The guitar arrived on the day scheduled, and the delivery person was very friendly. The guitar was double boxed and the packaging was in good condition. It was cold outside, so I waited about four hours before opening the package to allow the contents to reach room temperature so as to avoid damaging the finish. The package contained the guitar, an owner’s manual, and a small plastic bag containing three small hex wrenches. The guitar was well padded with styrofoam and wrapped in a thin foam bag. The finish and color were very attractive, and there was no damage from shipping and handling. The guitar looked and felt solid and very well made. It’s very light for a solid body guitar, and the top and back of the instrument are contoured and very comfortable in the playing position. Acoustically, the guitar sounds basically like every other solid body guitar I’ve played. I know that a lot of guitar players like to know how a guitar sounds before it’s plugged in, but to me there’s nothing specific I can say about that, other than it plays very comfortably, with a thin, fast neck and low string action, well intonated along the length of the neck.Plugged into a small five watt Vox amp, my first impression was that the pickups are very powerful, with a wide variety of tones available from the simple, intuitive control layout. The volume and tone controls are smooth, noise free, and easy to adjust with the knurled metal knobs. The selector switch gives me five different and useful tones, and it is hum canceling in each position. I’m a classic rock player, and this guitar easily covers that genre, and depending upon your amplification and signal chain, could be useful for anything from hardcore metal to blues and jazz.Where this guitar really shines is the light weight, wide slim neck, and fast, low action. The manufacturer’s website gives the specs of the neck in metric units, so I will convert them to Imperial measurements for those in the USA. The scale length is 25.5 inches, not 24.75 as given in the description on Amazon, but that shouldn’t be a problem for anyone unless they have very small, weak hands. The neck is a very slim .75 inch from front to back, and the fingerboard radius is about 17 inch. This is pretty flat compared to most electric guitars I’ve played, and this facilitates easy playing and clean string bending. The guitar comes with regular light gauge strings, .010 to.046 which is pretty standard for rock and metal players these days. This guitar plays very loud, fast and easy. It got a great setup before it left the factory. I know because I haven’t had to make any adjustments whatsoever to the action, intonation or pickups of this instrument. The Ibanez S design makes it easy on my shoulders and back, and it’s easy to reach the highest notes on the fretboard. I’m really excited and impressed with the way this guitar plays, and I’m able to do things on it that I can’t do on my other guitars. I did use the largest of the three supplied wrenches to check that the truss rod was working properly, and it’s just fine. I put the truss rod back the way it was after making sure it works the way it should.I would recommend this guitar for a wide range of players, from total beginner to advanced professional musician on a budget. A lot of beginners would probably not want to spend almost five hundred dollars on a first guitar, but if that fits into your budget then you should consider buying an Ibanez guitar like this. A lot of people get frustrated by beginners guitars that are hard to play and maybe sound just so-so, and they give up before they really even get off the starting blocks. I would advise beginners to skip over the lower priced guitars, stretch that budget, and buy this guitar to start out on. There are so many advantages to getting something like the Ibanez S621QM. It’s beautiful, solidly made, well adjusted from the factory, and it sounds and plays fantastic. To summarize, I am completely happy with the delivery, condition, construction, design, and utility of this guitar. I’ve gotten my money’s worth and much, much more. Five stars all the way. I would recommend this and if the need arises, I would definitely buy this again.Edited on Aug. 14, 2024:I purchased this guitar about eight months ago, and I’d like to add on to my initial review. I still think this is one of the best value guitars I’ve ever played. I’m really surprised at how loud and full it sounds compared to my other instruments, which includes an Epiphone Les Paul Standard, an Agile MCC-3100QM, a Gretsch Streamliner jazzbox, and an Ibanez Artist solid body. This guitar sounds louder and more modern than those other ones, and I’ve made it even better by replacing the OEM bridge with a Musiclily brass 52.5 mm hardtail bridge. I’ve reviewed the bridge elsewhere, but it wasn’t very hard to install and it improved the tone and sustain of my guitar. I changed the factory strings too, from .010-.046 round wounds to GHS Brite Flats, gauged .009-.042. This required a truss rod adjustment but now my guitar plays and sounds almost perfect. Though it’s very light, it sounds rich and full, and it’s really easy and fun to play. I repeat that I’d recommend this guitar for anyone from total beginner to working musicians on a budget, and if I ever needed to, I’d buy this again.

An total wow in appearance and sound.
I was very hesitant to purchase a guitar online without testing it out or seeing it in person first, but WOW. I highly recommend this incredible instrument to anyone lookin for an awesome looking and affordable high end guitar.I will quickly mention the one thing I think could be better before giving it the praise it deserves. The pickups are not integrated as seamlessly into the wood body as I think they could be. It is a minor cosmetic issue that may just be personal preference but the way they fit into the milling and the strange wrap around them that seems like it is cheap and could fall off really could be vastly improved by the manufacturer. But this is minor and doesn't seem to affect the tone and playability. But I can not deny how nice it feels to play. Very lightweight, very comfortable, the frets are placed perfectly so it stays tuned all the way up, the neck is very smooth and comfortable (other than one minor bump), and it looks absolutely beautiful. I saw some comments mentioning that it looks different from the picture but that is because natural wood grain is never going to look the same and the stain doesn't always produce the exact same colour as the photos so don't worry about those comments. The sound quality is also superb and even sounds really nice unamplified. Also no it does not have an adjustable bridge but I had a guitar with one before this and I rarely used it so isn't a concern for me.Overall this is a great option for newer and experienced players and offers premium sound and feel for an affordable price. I will be sticking with Ibanez for a while after this.

Nice Guitar
I started learning how to play the guitar with a Stringo and played for about three months. Then switched to this guitar (Ibanez). At first, I thought there was something wrong with the guitar because it sounded horrible. But all I had to do was adjust the neck. Once I got the neck adjusted, the guitar sounded way better than the Stringo guitar. I've had it for three months and I haven't had any problems. The guitar looks and sounds great. I've only been playing for 6 months total and not a professional, but I would recommend this guitar.

Highly recommend.
I absolutely love this guitar. I can't say enough good things about it. I'll start with the shipping. I've ordered gear from Gear Tree before and they have always been excellent. The guitar arrived a few days early (yay!) and was hand delivered to me at the door by Fed Ex (not thrown on the front porch). It was packed carefully and arrived in beautiful condition. The finish is gorgeous, the sound in amazing, the action is fantastic. The neck has a beautiful smooth feel and finish. The frets are smooth and the neck is a perfect width to easily play chords or lead. The pickups are Ibanez and have 5 settings in addition to the usual tone and volume knobs. The body of this guitar is super thin and light weight without compromising great tone. It's very comfortable to hold. Did I mention this guitar sounds amazing! I have a hard time putting it down. If I knew it was this exceptional, I would have bought it long ago. Highly recommend.

Incredible Guitar
After playing this instrument for a few days I literally find it hard to put down. Overall this guitar is way above the $500 price point. It is a beautiful veneer on an almost wafer thin body. The black hardware, fixed bridge with saddles and uncovered pups are simply the perfect functional features of this guitar. I guarantee you will play better because you will play longer. The 5 way selector switch works perfectly. There is nothing cheap on this guitar. As a mostly ES-335 player since youth I had to adjust to the slim S-series body, which is absolutely form and function rolled into one. A subtle binding on top completes a really great guitar. It is literally fun to hold this guitar because of its light weight, shape and balance. This is Ibanez #4 for me.
