Keep calm and spray some more WD40 in it
I’ve used these to make a dozen or so M5 threads in aluminium extrusion thus far. These were a replacement for a previous purchase from a different manufacturer which failed on first usage. In my usage so far the tap has held up well producing clean threads with little wear to the tap.I have used this in a magnetic extension bar in my drill with the clutch set to near max (these differ between drills so take it easy). The extension bar is pretty essential as it provides enough play that when the clutch kicks you don’t accidentally snap the bit.A reasonably large pilot hole is required, don’t imagine you can just walk up to some virgin metal and whack a thread in it. The bigger the pilot hole the fewer times you will need to retract the bit to clear the swarf. So it pays off time wise to cut a decent first hole.In my application I didn’t need a thread so long that I reached the countersink and in honesty I would be dubious about trying to remove so much material in one go.If you take it easy you should produce good results

The drill bit part may be lousy except as a guide, but the important tapping part works fine!!!
I bought this set to drill and tap M5 threads in 2 and 3mm aluminium (a boat mast). I kinda didn't expect it to work. But on 2 and 3mm test pieces, it worked a dream! I DID find the drill wouldn't go through aluminium at ALL, and used a different bit to drill a guide hole. But the tap worked great (I did spray WD40 on before)!! I used a variable speed electric drill with a reverse rotation on it, so that the tap came out when in reverse. In even the 2mm Al. strip, the thread holds an M5 machine screw very well. And all I did afterwards was to give the openings a 2 second rub with a file to remove burrs. So more or less top marks for the important bit - the tap. I'd have given it 5 stars if the hole-drilling part had worked, but at least it served as a guide for the tap. I think having a variable speed, dual direction electric drill is important, though no doubt with aluminium you could cut the thread easily manually.I don't know how it would work on harder/thicker materials. I think with cutting fluid or WD40, probably grand.Anyway, I'm happy with it for what I needed it for.

Very impressive
Wonderful Quality. Pass my quick test. I didn't force much. Used also oil. That set is very handy for emergency breakdown cover. I will order one more set. Thanks

Risky for a drill bit but a great tap
Using these as drill bits can be risky. If you manage to drill through the metal and catch the tap with the hole you made it will break the drill bit 100%. Using as a tap is pretty good but the 3 smallest sizes will break within 1st or 2nd use guaranteed. The 3 bigger drill bits are much bigger and stronger so there much more durable. I put the tap drill bit in my socket wrench to try and use the tap in a piece of steel. The 3 smaller ones broke instantly and the other 3 went through easily. Had no problem with drilling with either on them though just be carful. If the piece of metal isnt secured it will get stuck with the tap and spin it around with the drill.

Worth the cash but be careful with them.
Great product, very quickly delivered. If it's your first time using them just be swear the as it fully goes in, it will pull the drill and if your not careful you can snap them. This is the case for any tap and drill bits though.

Not sure why some are saying they break. They have been fine in steel.
With this set, over the last week, I've tapped in 4mm steel 240 M5 holes, 60 M6 holes, and 20 ish M4 holes. Not a single breakage and good quality threads were created. The key is to do the following:GO SLOW - Don't go spinning your drill at max speed. Slow and steady.Make a good pilot hole one size smaller than the tap - 4mm for M5, 5mm for M6 etc.Use a good drill with speed control set to screwdriver mode. Don't even think about using an impact driver as I saw one reviewer say they used. That's just asking for either threads that are destroyed or a broken tap.Use lots of cutting fluid.Follow those tips and you'll be fine.
